Message	Bad/worn/missing bushings will make the shifter knob wobly and inprecise, but shouldn't cause a noise. I'd replace the dust boots, see what happens, and then go from there. Oh, and the dust boots don't *cause* any noises, they're just supposed to cover up the normal mechanical noises from the tranny. If they have holes in them or aren't fully installed, they'll let that noise seep by.
